Der Miro Media Player (früher DTV or Democracy Player) is a system developed by the Participatory Culture Foundation P2PTV free program. It can automatically download videos from subscribed channels and works as a video podcast reader. The Miro Media Player running on different platforms (eg Mac, Windows, Linux) is free software and uses an RSS reader and a BitTorrent client based on libtorrent. To play the media files on Windows and Linux, it uses VLC or xine, which is possible under Linux in addition GStreamer [1]. In Mac OS X however, QuickTime is used. Miro was primarily programmed in Python.
